The Parliament House of Victoria in Melbourne is one of the city's best known landmarks with its civic architecture of sweeping steps, elegant lamps and grand colonnade.
The building has been the seat of the Parliament of Victoria since 1855 and remains the largest 19th century building in Australia. Public tours of Parliament House are conducted on days when Parliament is not sitting and on an hourly basis from 10am to 3:45pm. There are also one open day a year and it gives the public a chance to see inside the historic building and find out what goes on inside it.
